The St. Louis Broadband Summit was organized by the , KETC-Channel 9 , and the St. Louis Regional Chamber . We have been joined in planning events to continue the discussion on access to broadband/fiber by a broad coalition of regional economic development organizations and higher education institutions. We all believe that expanded access to high-speed internet is a critical piece of infrastructure necessary to the growth of the region.
The objective of the Summit and of the broader Broadband Initiative are:
1. To educate the business, civic, and elected communities on where we stand as a region in regards to broadband;
2. To drive this issue toward the top of the regional agenda as an infrastructure-related, economic development imperative;
3. To set in motion a process leading to a regional strategy or strategies to deploy high-speed fiber throughout the metro.
